Terrance J. Sheehan, M.D. — President & CEO
A member-insured of Medical Mutual for over 25 years, Dr. Sheehan has been actively involved with the Management and Board of the Company since 1988, when he was appointed to the Company’s Underwriting Committee. He has been a member of the Medical Mutual Board of Directors since 1990 and has also served on the Executive Committee, and as Secretary/Treasurer. He was appointed President/CEO in November of 2005.
A 1964 graduate of the Tufts University School of Medicine, Dr. Sheehan served as an intern and pediatric resident at Maine Medical Center from 1964 to 1967, received his Maine License in 1967 and was board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in 1970. From 1967 to 1992, he had a private pediatric practice in Augusta, Maine and from 1984 to 1987 also served as Vice President of Medical Affairs at Kennebec Valley Medical Center in Augusta. In 1992, he was named Chief Medical Officer at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford until his appointment as President of Medical Mutual.
